At the Asian Games in Incheon, just west of Seoul, host country South-Korea won gold per team in the eventing. The country owes the gold medal to two Belgian trainers and a Belgian horse. Lieven Devos and Marc Rigouts coached the four riders to their top ranking. One of the four horses was Calloa vh Kloosterhof Z (Caretano Z), a breeding product of EHS manager Sven Van Damme from Assenede. The mare was released earlier by Karin Donckers. It was also Donckers who trained the Korean riders in the run-up to this continental championship. The Asian Games is a multisport event that is organised every four years, along the lines of the Olympic Games, although this is a continental event. After the Olympic Games, the Asian Games are the largest sports manifestation in the world.
